Kimpton | HOTEL VINTAGE - PORTLAND

HOTEL VINTAGE brings luxury, and modernity … to work!

By the time that I left Hotel Vintage, I nearly considered the staff my friends.  It’s rare that a boutique hotel can be that cultivating, that fast.

Here’s how it rocks this;

  1. the bar is in the lobby, so it’s inviting you to engage.

  2. the staff seem like a team, you can tell everyone wheres many hats and is willing to help you with one thing when the other is busy

  3. you can still see the outside lights and street, but you are also in a secluded, safe area, that feels intimate

  4. the hotel has activities, wine hours, and great food and all of the action happens in that main area.

I love when I feel like I’m a part of something that wouldn’t happen in other areas or towns.  A gingerbread making, cookie decorating, fun setup in the lobby 5-6?  I can’t see that working in New York.   But, in Portland, it is perfect.

The staff was kind, relatable, honest, and knew more about wine and hospitality and care than the norm.

The lobby at Hotel Vintage PDX is somewhere where I will return to hang out, even if I’m not staying.  To be honest, it wasn’t the right vibe for working on my computer.  It is more moody and intimate.  The lighting screams “fun” not “work,” but it is in the middle of the action downtown, so you can go find a coffee shop if you need to get out.

OHH, but.. the rooms tho.

I also loved that the room was spacious enough to have all of my friends up to hang, when the buzz of the cocktails made our conversations more ripe for a private setting (haha!). We were able to laugh, engage, eat, and witness amazing cocktails and wine lists, but then take up a full decanter of our next pick up to the room to continue our stories and laughter with a little more jest and a lot more privacy.

How did it feel?

I did feel like I was in a quiet dungeon during the bedroom stay.  It was secluded and it caused a super deep sleep that I don’t think I have had in years.  I woke up past 11AM (whoops!) because it was quiet and calm.

The room though, it felt like a true treat.  A huge bathtub jacuzzi.  A large table for activities and work.  A big bed with fun lighting.  Crazy art.  Cozy feelings.  I’m here for it!

As far as it being Christmas, they really did it up-- but classy.  We had such an amazing, memorable time enjoying our meal as a family.  And… the girls were dressed in their Sunday best!
